September 20-26, 2010
Organized by the International Council of Reflexologists (ICR) - World Reflexology Week is an excellent opportunity to promote the benefits of reflexology to the public, the medical profession and the business world.
Events take place in over 30 countries worldwide, enabling reflexologists like us to heighten awareness of what we do around the globe!

World Reflexology Week
the last week of September…
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved!
What are your plans for this year’s
World Reflexology Week?
The Reflexology Association of California will once again be joining in the festivities, with events that will be held in all communities! We encourage all RAC members to become involved – it’s fun, it raises awareness of the benefits of reflexology in helping to promote a healthier world – and it’s easy to participate!
What is WRW? World Reflexology Week was created by the International Council of Reflexologists, (also known as ICR,) and is designed to familiarize our communities about what we do and increase public awareness about the overall benefits of reflexology, by offering sample sessions to the public in various venues around the nation – and in thirty countries around the world! Many events are also a fundraiser for a particular cause, such as a canned food drive to help hurricane Katrina victims, offering sessions in exchange for donations.
This exciting week is a time for us to shine as well. The goodwill we demonstrate is a true part of ‘who we are’ as reflexologists and the exposure we are given is sure to increase our business potential in our given community. We can re-connect with past clients by announcing our WRW events, garner new clients via our events, raise our credibility as a profession with local businesses and neighbors and meet and network with other reflexologists.
What events have already been planned? We are currently in the planning stages for the various California communities but we are eager to hear your voice, your input, your ideas. Perhaps you know of a local business, community center, Senior center, spa, bookstore, mall in your area – wherever people gather, we can be there!
Do these have to be big events? Not at all. An event can be one, two or three reflexologists at a small venue, either public or private, or a larger group … the idea is to raise awareness and give back to our community – every event counts and each is equally meaningful!
How much time commitment is required? We are all busy, so we typically divide our time at an event, taking a ‘shift’ or two, so no one is overburdened. It’s so much fun to sit ‘side by side’ with fellow reflexologists – see old friends, make new friends, and introduce the public to all the good reflexology can do!

How Can I Get Started?
Our WRW committee has a ready-to-use action plan and will help you with event planning, getting you in touch with other Reflexologists in your area to work side by side and providing sample promotion material. Events can be large or small.
Need an idea? Here are just a few to get you started...
Demonstration. Set up a small booth or work area and give 10-15 minute sessions in places like health food stores, farmer’s markets, health & fitness clubs, etc.
Pre-arrange special sessions of 10-30 minutes with local groups, organizations, businesses and events in advance, like nursing homes, women’s or homeless shelters, Fund-raisers (races, walk-a-thons), Hospices for the terminally ill, Police, fireman or rescue teams, Cultural events, etc.
Have an Open House Day to show the public your office/space. Have some healthy food & beverages, plenty of literature on reflexology and your practice, and give out discount coupons.
Give a Seminar on reflexology to educate the public about its benefits. Hand out flyers and give hands on demonstration.
Local Charities: Look for local events to promote awareness of the healthy benefits of reflexology. Offer your services for free to local charities, donate proceeds or give relief to care givers.
Referral Special: Offer client incentives to refer new clients during World Reflexology Week.
We hope you will plan at least one activity and schedule it sometime during the last week of September so you can be part of this global awareness. Help to spread the good news about the benefits of reflexology!!!
